Watermelon is the fruit which I prefer to eat in summer. Always very juicy, it’s a refreshment and a real delight in every bit. You can eat it in various ways and it can be associated to salted food as sweet.
What I find really sad, it’s that a lot of people eats it only in one way: alone, without something else. I find it sad, because watermelon reveals all its taste when associated with two very particular fruits. Wanna know which one? Lime and passion fruit naturally!
As many already know it, watermelon possesses a taste which is very thirst-quenching and refreshing. It’s moreover because of its taste, that in summer, during hot days, we love eating it. In addition to that, it’s a fruit very rich in water which allows us to stay hydrated (only bonus then!).
The lycopene contained in its flesh is an antioxidant which allows to fight against various diseases as cancer or high blood pressure. It’s an antioxidant from the family of beta-carotenes which are at the origin of the color of fruits, where from that one pronounced of watermelon.
It is also good to know that these types of oxidizers are going to be better approached by our body if consummate with a small quantity of lipid, kind of fat. Then yes we can, for example, eat watermelon with feta cheese. A very good excuse, then, so that from this day, you add it in your salads!
Have you already tried this combination of fruits?
